Life is too short to spend it in the shadows of our childhood.

Get the right support to overcome adversity, rise to new challenges, build resilience and gain new levels of confidence.

I’m so glad you’ve popped by…

The Self & Society aims to bridge the gap between self-development as a personal and sometimes, isolating, path with the wider societal systems and structures at play.

We as individuals, are formed from multiple pressures and systems. From the very beginning, before you were even a little seed in your mummy’s tummy, you have been formed, shaped and labelled by intergenerational behaviours, hierarchies and beliefs.

And now you are here, feeling at odds with how you think you should be, grappling with childhood experiences, living in the shadows of societal and familial expectation and trying to piece together who you are when you strip everything else back.

The good news is…you ARE here. And you’re ready to make the necessary changes so that the past unhealthy and negative systems have less impact and influence on your life and that you can develop healthier, positive systems to support you in the future.

So who am I to be talking about such things?

Hi, I’m Shanna.

And I’m known by many things, a mummy, wife, daughter, sister, friend.

I’m also a child of adverse experiences, an adult who has walked this path before you, seeking, exploring and achieving freedom from what I experienced, seen, heard. I’ve accepted what was, challenged unhealthy behaviours, beliefs, thoughts, integrated healthier ways of living and being, learned and continue to practice better communication, understanding of myself and others, figuring out what all these feelings are after surviving in a detached state for so many years, regulating the more unpleasant ones and allowing myself to experience the completely untethered ones. I’ve moved through anger (copious amounts of), grief, disdain, loneliness, judgement and shame to understanding how intergenerational behaviours influence what we experience externally and internally…and I chose to change what comes next!

I’ve done this to experience the best of my marriage, my children, my family and friendships. I continue to deepen my knowledge, integrate better communication and practice feeling my feelings.

See what others had to say...

  • Shanna was instrumental in helping me to uncover the places in my life that needed stronger boundaries, and truly helped me feel good about enacting them. She was so kind, heartfelt, and truly listened to everything I had to say. Her words of advice and coaching skills helped me through a rough time in my life, and I would recommend her to anyone who simply needs an ear lent to their issues or for those who want to progress their lives in the best way possible.

  • If you are looking for a coach, look no further than Shanna, she is definitely someone you need in your life. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her and she gave me such food for thought about the issues I brought to my session. She helped me to breakthrough some of my limiting beliefs and helped me work towards overcoming them. I will definitely be back for more coaching sessions in the future, invest in yourself and put your trust in Shanna, she won't let you down. I highly recommend her services to anyone who is looking for a coach.

  • Working with Shanna was just the magic for how I see myself now. I haven't been able to look into a full length mirror for years but thanks to the inner work I did with Shanna I can now with ease. She helped me start my journey of self-love which I have struggled with for years. Shanna helped me see I was holding on to unhealthy relationships. I now have an understanding that the relationship we have with our self is the most important one. I now understand that we are all going at our own pace in life. It's your journey and no one else's. Shanna is a kind and a highly skilled and compassionate coach.
